Ethan Bowles

I love reading. We all do, right? That’s why we’re here. In particular, I love the incredible worlds that are so prominent in sci-fi and fantasy. Whether it’s a school of magic, the science behind a starship, or the ecology of an alien planet, I am absolutely obsessed with worldbuilding.

I currently work as a proofreader for Polk State College in my home state of Florida, and I’ve been doing so since 2024. I’ve also worked as an editor at Ferry Godmother Productions, a nonprofit in New York, helping woman- and minority-owned businesses connect with the resources they needed to succeed.

My editing philosophy

When editing, my goal is to make sure the story stays authentically yours. I want your characters, your worlds, and your stories to be as real to your readers as they are to you. To that end, I engage with my edits as a dialogue. I ask questions and make suggestions to draw what’s in your head onto the page.
