When I look for an editor, I'm looking for someone who will challenge me to push myself to improve technically and learn to be a better story teller. I hope they'll have a good sense of humor, because I love my criticism with a little bit of personality. I want to be able to trust that they're not letting me take short cuts, that they'll challenge me on things I need to be challenged on, and most of all that they're telling it exactly as they see it without censoring themselves to avoid hurting my feelings. I found all of this with Ethan, and I am delighted to be going through my edits. This is my favorite part of the process and seeing where he not only flagged an issue but also made suggestions for how to address it is a joy. In addition, as things come up while I edit he remains a resource I can reach out to with questions so I don't feel like I'm swimming this alone. I will absolutely be returning for my next book.
